Feeding Therapy
Feeding therapy at The Therapy Grove is provided by Speech and Occupational therapists with specialty/advanced training in feeding. Feeding therapy helps children with a wide array of feeding challenges including difficulty chewing, tolerating textures, and/or strengthening the muscles needed for safe feeding. Therapy sessions can include oral motor exercises, practice using utensils, working on eating new foods, and chewing skills.
The Therapy Grove uses the SOS Approach to Feeding program, a nationally and internationally recognized approach for assessing and treating children with feeding difficulties. The SOS Approach to Feeding is a program that utilizes play-based techniques to help children learn how to eat comfortably at their own pace.
With 32 different steps involved in eating, we equip children with the necessary skills to expand their palate and adapt to different food textures. Our method centers around the fun and interactive nature of playing with food and social interaction with adults, making mealtimes a positive experience for everyone involved.
